The excellent Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes waited until his 40s — when he said he felt emotionally ready to perform Beethoven — to begin recording the Beethoven concertos with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Judging by the result, the wait has paid off. On Monday, Mr. Andsnes and the ensemble offer Beethoven’s second, third and fourth concertos, with Mr. Andsnes conducting from the keyboard. On Wednesday, they perform the first and fifth concertos. (8 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, Carnegie Hall, carnegiehall.org.)

On Sunday, another wonderful pianist, Richard Goode, joins the soprano Sarah Shafer, the violinist Itamar Zorman, the violist Kyle Armbrust and the cellist Brook Speltz — all young artists he has mentored at the Marlboro Music Festival — for a program featuring Brahms’s Piano Quartet No. 2 in A; Schumann’s Piano Trio No. 2; and lieder by Brahms and Schumann. (3 p.m., Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall.)
